Since its inception africa unplugged UK has supported many small grass roots projects, some of which are featured in the pages to the left.
Although the majority have been located in and around Nkhata Bay we have ventured further afield. For example, africa unplugged actually first started in the village of Cobue in Mozambique. Cobue is almost opposite Likoma Island on the eastern side of Lake Malawi. As well as supporting some market gardening projects on the island we also spent some time in Mybeya in the southern highlands of Tanzania.
Some projects are very much a ‘one off’ activity such as the support we gave to repair the roofs of some market stalls. Other projects tend to be seasonal, like market gardens, and if key persons leave the project may be discontinued. Of course, not every project is a success but the fact that we are still sponsoring projects is testimony to the fact that ‘together we really can make a difference’.
